Jeff Siegel’s 1/ST Glance: Santa Anita

RACE 1

4-INTO IT
Degree of confidence: B-

• Too fresh and pulled in recent comeback, should bet set today.
• Most effective with a second flight trip, tough if cooperates.
• Career top speed figure in last race, similar effort can beat these.

Others to consider: 2-National Generaux (Ire); 5-Street Hunter.

RACE 2

3-GYPSY LYNN
Degree of confidence: B

• Drops below her claim price and to her lowest level ever.
• Pivotal jockey switch to Juan Hernandez, will be a short price.
• First and second in three starts over the Santa Anita dirt strip.

Others to consider: 4-Keep Your Coil.

RACE 3

3-OOBBBAKAKAYO
Degree of confidence: B+

• Tipped hand in debut when closing strongly to be third.
• Gets an extra half furlong to work with, can step forward.
• Two sharp drills since raced, appears ready to graduate.

Others to consider: 5-Travelin’ Show.

RACE 4

2-SHE’S MY NIECE
Degree of confidence: B-

• Slightly disappointing in last after runaway maiden score.
• Retains Hernandez, remains protected, controlling speed.
• First or second in three of six starts over the local dirt track.

Others to consider: 7-Pink Whitney.

RACE 5

2-DEVILISH DESIRE
Degree of confidence: B

• In the money in all four starts, back sprinting, ready to graduate.
• Style suits this course and distance, wants to be held up early.
• Reunited with Flavian Prat, fast on figures, edge with best race.

Others to consider: 7-Captain Choochies.

RACE 6

2-MAYMUN
Degree of confidence: A

• Won like a top prospect in debut with a stakes quality speed figure.
• Stretches out off one sprint (would prefer two); likely will not matter.
• Pedigree says added distance will not be an issue, gate-to-wire tactics.

Others to consider: none.

RACE 7

1-ALLURING
Degree of confidence: B+

• Visually impressive beating maidens on the flat course; up the ladder.
• Good tactical speed but seems likely to do her best work in the stretch.
• Rail post no help over the downhill course but seems solid, nonetheless.

Others to consider: 7-Voodoo Magic (Fr); 11-Julias Dream.

RACE 8

3-DANGEROUS GAME
Degree of confidence: B

• Wide open grass grab bag for older state bred maiden claimers.
• Has done some good work while getting cranked up for his debut.
• Nice mover probably wants to settle early and then take hold late.

Others to consider: 7-Antonsen; 6-Spend It All.

RACE 9

10-COMRADERY (Ire)
Degree of confidence: B-

• Projected hot early pace should complement his late running style.
• Three time winner over the local lawn has solid figures for this level.
• Drawn farther outside then preferred, must drop over and get cover.

Others to consider: 3-Giovinazzo; 4-Marks Hip.
