DEL MAR SPOTLIGHT RACES:
Fourth Race: Post: 2:00 PT
Top Pick: 2-Antonsen (2-1)
Finally makes it to the races late in his 3-year-old season after being started and stopped on a number of times in previous workout patterns. The son of Smiling Tiger always has trained like a top sprint prospect and recent drills indicate that despite various setbacks he retains all of his speed. In this five furlong turf dash for state-bred runners we’re expecting the Carla Gaines-trained colt to outclass his rivals, so at anything close to his morning line of 2-1 he’ll offer good wagering value in the win pool and in rolling exotic play.

Fifth Race – Post: 2:30 PT
Top Pick: 10-Sassy Nature (4-1)
Has trained like a rocket ship leading up to her racing debut and projects to be too quick for her rivals in this main track sprint for juvenile fillies. Certainly bred to be quick, the Luis Mendez-trained daughter of Straight Fire was highly impressive in a bullet :46 1/5 half mile gate drill at Santa Anita just five days ago, so if she leaves with her field from her outside draw she should be long gone. Generously priced at 4-1 on the morning line, we’ll make her a strong win play and rolling exotic single.
