Belmont Park – 8th race – 1-Site Read (4-1)
Won his debut last summer at Saratoga going long on the lawn so you know he can fire fresh and his work tab at Payson Park indicates this colt is fit and ready for a major effort in his sophomore debut. Mott is solid with layoff runnrs and while this is a fairly salty bunch of entry-level allowance 3-year-olds, this promising son of Tizdejavu seems likely to be a better type this time around. Let’s try him in the straight pool at or near his 4-1 morning line and also use him in rolling exotic play.
Belmont Park – 9th race – Maddie’s Revenge (8-1)
The known element isn’t much so let’s take a shot with a first timer from the Clement barn (he has two in here). Four-year-old daughter of Eskendereya finally makes it to the post and shows just three recent works at Payson Park, but main guy Castellano takes the call so we suspect there’s far more than meets the eye with this New York-bred filly. Two of her three listed drills were bullets, so she clearly has some ability, and at 8-1 on the morning line she’s worth a gamble both in the straight pool and in the rolling exotics.
