Churchill Downs – 3rd race – 2-Bitumen (4-1)
First-time starter from the Eddie Kenneally barn appears fit and ready following a string of strong workouts for this maiden juvenile six furlong sprint, and is worth a gamble at anything close to his 4-1 morning line. Long-striding, athletic colt was impressive breezing a quarter pole in 21 1/5 seconds at the OBS March sale and then brought $280,000 at auction. Has done everything right in the a.m. since arriving in Kentucky.
Santa Anita – 3rd race – 2-Peacenik (3-1)
Makes his first start since November for the high percentage Bill Spawr stable and is protected in starter’s allowance company in a sign of confidence. Old-timer always has loved this main track (12 out of 16 in the money with five wins) and his recent workouts indicate he’s fresh and ready to produce a major effort. At 3-1 on the morning line he’s a strong straight play and rolling exotic single.
