Woodbine – 6th race – 1-Conquest Enforcer (2-1)
Earned a triple-digit Beyer figure when winning the restricted Queenston Stakes in his sophomore debut in May, making the pace and winning in hand by almost eight lengths. That performance came over the all-weather surface but this son of Into Mischief showed he could handle grass just as well when winning the Cup and Saucer Stakes by almost seven lengths last fall. Sophomore colt in the Mark Casse barn moves into open stakes competition in the today’s Charley Barley Stakes but should be more than up to the challenge. Let’s hope we can get close to his morning line of 2-1 in both the straight pool and in rolling exotic play.
Oak Tree at Pleasanton – 9th race – 1-Rinse and Repeat (7/2)
Performed admirably in his debut when a rapidly-closing third while mostly on his own courage in a strong maiden special weight dash at Santa Anita last month, and returns in this Northern California stakes sprint for juveniles. The son of Square Eddie will have to overcome the rail and short rest but looks like a quality sort and should be able to out-class this field even as a second-time starting maiden for the Reddam/O’Neill/Gutierrez team. There’s good value here at 7/2 on the morning line if you can get it.
