Belmont Park – 8th race – 5-Elysea’s World-Ire (7/2)
Undefeated in two starts and couldn’t have been more impressive in winning her U.S. debut last month, lagging to the top of the lane and then sweeping on by with an electric turn of foot before holding safe stablemate 6-Grey Stark, who at 8-1 on the morning line also is worth consideration in this nine furlong stakes for sophomore fillies. ‘World is an Irish-bred with unlimited upside, and today’s added distance makes her even more dangerous. At 7/2 on the morning line she’s a straight play, and at 8-1 on the morning line Grey Stark probably is worth inclusion in rolling exotic play as well.
Churchill Downs – 10th race – 9-Gridiron Cat (6-1)
Flashed excellent speed in his debut over a muddy track at Fair Grounds in March and stayed on well when a sharp runner-up in a highly-rated race for maiden special weight performers. Seems certain to move forward for good trainer Michael Stidham and, after turning in three strong recent workouts over the all-weather surface at Arlington Park, vans to Kentucky for the money run. At 6-1 on the morning line, the son of Discreet Cat offers enormous value both in the straight pool and in rolling exotic play.
